Gwinnett Clean & Beautiful Needs YOU to “Bring One for the Chipper”

Bring One for the Chipper - Volunteers - GCBGwinnett Clean & Beautiful owes our 34-year history of success to a strong community of concerned citizens, corporate partners and dedicated volunteers.  As we look ahead to the coming year, we know there will be many opportunities for Gwinnett County residents to serve. The first of which is just around the corner on January 25!

For more than 20 years, the Keep Georgia Beautiful Foundation has made “Bring One for the Chipper” an environmentally responsible post-holiday tradition – and Gwinnett Clean & Beautiful is proud to host one of the largest Christmas tree recycling programs in the entire state! Of course, in order to maintain this lofty standing, we need YOU. There are two very important ways you can help:

1)      Between now and January 17, 2014, you can drop your live Christmas tree off at a number of fire stations throughout Gwinnett County 24 hours a day, seven days a week. We would particularly like to recognize the participation of our newest city – Peachtree Corners – and its fire station #4, located at 5550 Spalding Drive. Please make sure that all decorations, lights and tree stands have been removed from the tree before dropping them off.

2)      Register as a volunteer for our “Bring One for the Chipper” event, which will be hosted on January 25, 2014 from 9 a.m. to noon at Bethesda Park in Lawrenceville. Volunteers will aid in chipping recycled Christmas trees into mulch. We recommend that volunteers bring gloves and wear long pants, thick closed-toe shoes, and warm layers. Volunteers must be 14 years or older, and must arrive with a signed Volunteer Release Form in hand in order to take part in the event. Business groups, church groups, civil organizations, neighborhood associations and school clubs of 4 or more participants are also welcome to take part in this event.  This is a wonderful way to work together as a community, and prevent live Christmas trees from taking up precious space in our landfills. Instead, the mulch that is created from this event will adorn landscaping projects all throughout Gwinnett in an ultimate show of the power of “treecycling”.

Thank you in advance for your part in making “Bring One for the Chipper” 2014 a BIG success!  Gwinnett Clean & Beautiful would also like to take this opportunity to thank our incredible partners at the Gwinnett County Board of Commissioners, Georgia Power, Jackson EMC, and Republic Services for the vital roles they play in “Bring One for the Chipper” each year.
