In conjunction with Gwinnett County’s Department of Transportation, Gwinnett Clean & Beautiful is extremely honored to partner with local businesses, organizations, churches, civic groups, schools, scout troops, and families in order to make our Adopt-A-Road litter prevention initiative a success. A shining example of that success comes to us from our good friends at the Gwinnett Newton Rockdale (GNR) County Health Departments.
May 2014 marked the 4th anniversary of GNR Health’s participation in the Adopt-A-Road Program. Since 2010, GNR Health has:
- Assembled 62 unduplicated volunteers to dedicate a combined 58 hours to pick up litter along Riverside Parkway
- Collected 836 bags of trash totaling 9,890 pounds (that’s almost 5 tons!)
- Removed 66 illegal signs from the roadway
We truly appreciate the fact that the staff at GNR Health takes such pride in making a difference in order to “Keep Gwinnett Clean & Beautiful”. We’d like to say THANK YOU to all of our Adopt-A-Road partners. Keep up the great work!
In the event that you are not currently involved in the Adopt-A-Road initiative, Gwinnett Clean & Beautiful would like to invite YOU to take part, too! This important litter prevention initiative enables citizens to show their pride in Gwinnett while safely reducing the amount of unsightly trash and illegal signage along our county’s roadways. In exchange for your hard work and commitment, groups that elect to Adopt-a-Road receive two signs with their company, organization, church, school, troop or family name placed on either side of the stretch of road for which they are responsible. It equates to a unique opportunity to advertise the fact that your group is committed to environmental stewardship and area beautification.
