Press Release: Gwinnett Clean & Beautiful Welcomes 2016 with Call for Bring One for the Chipper Volunteers

Environmentally Focused Nonprofit Seeks Assistance from Local Community for 30th Annual Treecycling Event on January 23

Group of Young Environmental Stewards at Bring One for the Chipper - GCB 2015Duluth, Georgia, January 4, 2016 – On January 23, dozens of volunteers from all over Gwinnett County will gather together at Bethesda Park in Lawrenceville for the 30th installment of the largest Christmas “treecycling” event in the State: Bring One for the Chipper 2016. Throughout the morning, volunteers will help chip live Christmas trees into mulch. This mulch will one day line the grounds of local playgrounds, beautify the beds around city halls, mark walking trails in area parks, and so much more.

Prior to the Bring One for the Chipper event, area residents have up until January 16, 2016 to drop off their live Christmas trees – which must be free of decorations, lights and stands – to the following locations for “treecycling”:

For the safety of participants on the day of the January 23 event, volunteers must wear work gloves, long pants and thick-soled, closed-toe shoes. Gwinnett Clean & Beautiful also recommends weather-appropriate, comfortable clothing that the volunteer won’t mind getting dirty. Volunteers for Bring One for the Chipper must be 14 or older to participate in this service project. In addition to individual volunteers, local businesses, civic groups, school clubs, neighborhood associations and church groups are also welcome. Every volunteer must read, sign and bring the Volunteer Release Form to the event. Volunteer Release Forms are available at http://www.gwinnettcb.org/event/bring-one-chipper/.
