Take Care of ME

I am the forest floor that extends beyond the reaches of your neighborhood.

I am the winding trail that encircles the park where your children and grandchildren love to play.

I am the stream that you discovered one day on a walk through the woods.

I am the grass that grows along the roads and sidewalks you travel, day in and day out.

I am the wildflowers that line the median of the interstate and make you smile each spring.

I am the lake where you spent countless summer days as a child.

I am the tree that sways in the breeze just beyond your bedroom window.

I am all of these things… and so much more.

I am your HOME.

Take care of ME.

Who is ME?

ME is a highly memorable acronym that stands for “My Environment”. It’s a new initiative created by Gwinnett Clean & Beautiful and our partners at the Gwinnett County Board of Commissioners. The “Keep ME Clean” campaign is intended to foster a sense of pride and personal responsibility among local citizens, families, neighbors, businesses, civic groups, local schools and organizations. Every time someone litters, it’s important to remember that they’re hurting ME. On the other hand, any time a person stoops down to pick up a piece of trash – or a whole group gathers for a cleanup event – you are helping ME. Together, WE can do great things!

Why ME?

The reason for the development of this very special campaign is to meaningfully engage and actively motivate people throughout the community to become stewards of our surrounding environment. In addition to potential environmental impacts, the physical appearance of our public lands can have wide-reaching economic and social impacts.  Unfortunately – because many people feel no sense of ownership for public lands – areas of our beautiful Gwinnett County community such as roadsides, medians and streambanks are frequently littered and used as dumping grounds. Due to an increase in litter along our roadsides and in our waterways in recent years, it is vital that we act now to care for our environment. While many people can see the issue, they don’t act because they believe that these areas are someone else’s responsibility. The ME Campaign is designed to change that by inspiring a sense of ownership, spreading awareness and providing opportunities for Gwinnett residents and businesses to take personal action to care for ‘ME’ – our HOME!

Ways You Can Help Keep “ME” Clean

The first – and most important – step is for all of our neighbors to never litter in the first place! Please put trash in the proper place… a litter bag or trash can. Gwinnett Clean & Beautiful is proud to provide a number of additional ways in which local residents, organizations, civic groups and companies can get involved in “taking care of ME,” including:
