In an effort to help prevent the spread of COVID-19 and in combination with the recommendation of the CDC and Public Health, Gwinnett County Solid Waste and Gwinnett Clean & Beautiful made the difficult but necessary decision to postpone our 2020 Earth Day Celebration.  The decision was made with an abundance of caution and is consistent with Federal and State guidelines for group gatherings.   We remain committed to environmental sustainability, and we look forward to hosting our next community event.

Join us at the Gwinnett County Fairgrounds on Saturday, May 2nd in celebration of Earth Day with two of the best ways we know how… volunteering and recycling! On this day dedicated to demonstrating support for environmental protection for the last 50 years, we will unite with a global community of 193 countries that celebrate Earth Day in their own variety of ways to show our love for the planet we call “home.”

Thanks to our partners at Gwinnett County Solid Waste Management, this recycling event is entirely FREE to the public. With Spring in full swing, it will be a great time to do a little Spring cleaning! Get rid of those sensitive documents by securely shredding them in bulk at no charge (five box limit), bring your old paint (10 gal limit), electronics, and tires (limit 8, dealer tires not accepted). Electronics are free, except for a $15 cash fee for TVs and monitors and a $5 cash fee for printers, per item. All items will either be recycled or properly disposed of. For any questions, please contact Solid Waste Management at 770.822.7141.

We expect thousands of residents to drop-off recyclables in just three short hours. In order to make this event a major success, we’ll need volunteers to help greet our neighbors, haul boxes of paper to the shredder, remove electronics or tires from vehicles, and more.  To volunteer for Earth Day at Gwinnett Fairgrounds, please register at http://volunteergwinnett.net.  Thank you in advance for the gifts of your time and talents!
